Welsh accountancy practice, Watts Gregory LLP has appointed Julia Mortimer as its seventh partner. Mortimer heads up the audit department and specialises in advising charities and not-for-profit organisations, and joined the Cardiff-based firm eight years ago as an audit senior.

At KPMG, Richard Fleming, UK head of transactions & restructuring, has been appointed head of advisory as part of new leadership appointments made by Simon Collins, UK chairman elect. Fleming has acted as administrator or company voluntary arrangement supervisor on numerous high profile businesses such as MF Global UK, Peacocks, Blacks, JJB and Connaught. Karen Briggs has been named as head of risk consulting, replacing Adam Bates, who becomes head of innovation for KPMG.

Peters Elworthy & Moore (PEM) audit senior, Alison Nuttycombe, has been awarded the ICAEW diploma in Charity Accounting from Cass Business School.

Essex-based Rickard Keen has hired Dani Jones as a trainee accountant, with a view to fulfilling the ACA qualification. Jones joins the firm after attending Kings College in London where she obtained a first class history degree.

Deloitte has announced the promotion of 63 new partners, 32 of whom become full equity partners in the firm, bringing the total number of partners in the firm to 991. The new appointments cover all four of its key business areas – audit, tax, consulting and corporate finance – and in offices in the UK and in Switzerland.
