Government trade and customs white papers published
Released 9 October 2017
The Government has published two white papers setting out plans for post Brexit UK trade policy and standalone UK Customs, VAT and excise regimes.
The Trade White Paper: Preparing for our future UK trade policy published by the Department for International Trade establishes the principles that will guide future UK trade policy as well as laying out the practical steps that will support those aims.
HM Treasury's Customs Bill White Paper: Customs Bill: legislating for the UK's future customs, VAT and excise regimes sets out the Government’s plans to legislate for the standalone customs, VAT and excise regimes the UK will need once it leaves the EU. The Government is seeking written submissions on this paper, which should be sent to CustomsStakeholders@hmtreasury.gsi.gov.uk, ideally before 3 November 2017.
