Push for manufacturers to claim R&D tax relief

The manufacturers’ representative organisation EEF has announced a partnership deal with R&D tax relief specialist Jumpstart, with the aim of providing expert advice for members to secure their full entitlement of R&D tax relief

The link up will also provide guidance to those companies seeking to apply for the credit for the first time.

The move will see Jumpstart providing expert advice to EEF for all sizes of business, from FTSE 100 companies with complex R&D programmes, through to SMEs simply requiring support with the claim process.

Jumpstart will be named as an official EEF Advantages partner, joining EEF’s scheme of third party providers selected to help its members save money and grow their businesses. As part of the partnership EEF members will receive a discount on Jumpstart fees.

Last year, UK manufacturing companies claimed £770m through the tax credit scheme, but EEF remains concerned that a significant number of companies are either not taking advantage of the scheme at all, or are not maximising their value.

Charles Garfit, EEF membership engagement director, said: ‘This partnership will be critical in helping companies navigate the complexities of the process of applying for the R&D credit. It will ensure that those companies already benefiting can maximise their entitlement, as well as enable those encountering the process for the first time to achieve a smooth route through it.’
