Scottish financial services firms target women returners

Seven top Scottish employers including RBS, Standard Life Aberdeen and Prudential, have signed up to a government-funded programme to help professional women get back into skilled financial services jobs after an extended career break

The return to work programme focuses on financial services sector across Scotland and was set up three months ago by Women Returners.

TSB, BNP Paribas Securities Services, Independent Women (part of Succession Group) and Hymans Robertson have also signed up to provide three-month paid placements for experienced professional women on an extended career break to get back into skilled employment.

The programme offers returners a paid professional placement from April to July 2018, refreshing their skills, experience and networks to equip them to apply for ongoing employment at a suitable level at the end of the programme.

Participants will have an internal mentor and will participate as a group in a workshop-based returner coaching programme, creating a supportive peer network. Participating employers will be provided with consulting, promotional, line manager and returner support from Women Returners.

Hazel Little, coaching and programme manager at Women Returners, said: ‘It is fantastic to see so many Scottish financial services companies signing up, which will help to kick-start the growth of returnships in this sector. There are however still many more who are yet to commit to this important programme. Interested financial services companies must act now and sign up to ensure they don’t miss out on experienced, qualified and diverse candidates who will make a considerable positive impact on their business.’
